After falling in love with the Cobble Hill neighborhood in Brooklyn (New York), Jenni Li and her husband Hans Gissinger decided to purchase a three-story home in this area. A four month renovation turned the house into a modern home suitable for a family with three kids. The once-closed-off kitchen and storage rooms were converted into an open living, dining, and kitchen area. With French doors leading out to the home’s roomy backyard—featuring a custom wood-fired oven — the ground floor is now the center of family life. To cultivate a creative, artistic atmosphere for her children throughout their home, Jenni paired colorful keepsakes scored on trips back to her native Peru with her husband’s artworks. And she gave her kids the freedom to decorate their own bedrooms. I love how the children’s drawing give a personal touch. Jenni: “The kids’ art pieces are especially meaningful. Children’s eyes are always so pure.”
